Julyfest - Festival of Festivals

July 16– 18, 2010

As Kimberley’s longest standing event in its 39th year, this major festival has something for everyone! It’s truly a weekend filled with a multitude unique events that create such a buzz and excitement you’ll be hard-pressed for free time. Mix it with the consistent hot sunny days, and Julyfest will become your favorite summer event.

So what are these unique events that make up Julyfest? What brings so many people that the streets are a buzz?

Over 1,000 soccer players from across western Canada and the Pacific Northwest compete in the official Julyfest Soccer Tournament, a sanctioned BC Soccer Assn event. This is a 37-year tradition featuring a Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Men’s 35+ Open category, with cash prizes!

The Canadian Bocce Championships…with a twist! Related most closely with lawn bowling, this event includes prizes for best costumes, a beer garden, and a grassy field where eight bocci pits lie in the beating hot sun with hundreds of people playing and cheering. Although it may seem like just a bunch of people just having fun, it is a serious event with referees, advancement rounds and cash prizes.

The Sullivan Challenge Downhill SK8 Race is one of Julyfest’s newest events, and is the greatest spectacle to see. Envision racers in full body armor, careening at high speeds on a longboard down a windy hill and roadway banking turns, or if they’re off their mark a big crash into the hay bails!

Saturday Night Party! Hosted at the local arena with live bands, this jam fest is the night of all nights!
This isn’t all! There’s the Kidzfest in the Platzl, the Saturday Parade, a Fastball Tournament, a Volleyball Competition, a Tennis Festival, and the new Festival of Golf!
