Incident Update from BC Wildfire Service on Meachen Creek Complex - Fire in being held and contained.
(Unless the situation changes, this will be the last update from the City on the Meachen Wildfire.)
An 8-person Incident Management Team from Alberta has assumed command of these fires.
The Meachen Creek Fire (N11886)

47 firefighting personnel on site
2 helicopters are assigned to the complex

This wildfire is in the Kianuko Provincial Park and the Meachen Creek drainage, approximately 4 kilometres southwest of St. Mary Lake and is now classified as Being Held.
All containment lines have continued to hold on the east side and there has been no further encroachment towards the St. Mary Lake community. The Meachen Fire is now contained and Being Held. Today’s objectives will be much the same as Sunday. Crews will continue establishing hose lines around the excursion and continue to work in the Fiddler Creek drainage and Meachen Creek drainage. Helicopters with buckets will be used to support the suppression efforts if required. Crews will work the lower end of the spine in the northeast corner and bucket hot spots as required. Removal of structural protection equipment has been completed. There are currently crews from BC and Ontario working on the fire.
Weather Forecast : Monday: Cloudy with Sunny breaks. 40%-60% chance of precipitation. Temperatures in the low twenties with relative humidity values near 25%. Winds will be from the Southwest to Northwest 12km/hr to 28km/hr with gust to 60km/hr.
