Subdivision refers to several kinds of changes to land parcels. Dividing one property into two, changing the lot line between two properties, or converting a building or land into strata parcels are all types of subdivision.
Dividing a single property or changing a lot line are subdivisions governed by the Land Title Act. Converting a building or land into strata parcels - a property that combines both individual units (strata lots) and common property – is governed by the Strata Property Act.
All applications for subdivision within the municipal boundaries must be reviewed by the Approving Officer of the City of Kimberley to ensure compliance with the Official Community Plan and other municipal bylaws and policies. Approval from Provincial ministries such as Transportation and/or Environment may also be required.
