Parks and Facilities Master Plan Ready for Public Review

Posted:

The City of Kimberley is excited to announce the release of its draft Parks and Facilities Master Plan for public viewing and comment. This comprehensive plan, available on Engage Kimberley, outlines a strategic vision for the development and enhancement of parks and recreation services over the next decade.

The Parks and Facilities Master Plan is the result of a joint effort between the City and its residents, a testament to our shared commitment to shaping the future of our community. This ensures that future investments and decisions regarding parks, facilities, programs, and events are custom-made to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Key objectives of the Master Plan include analyzing the current state of parks and recreation within Kimberley, identifying emerging trends and preferences in recreational activities, establishing priorities for capital investment in facilities and programming, and optimizing service delivery to better serve the community.

"The development of this Master Plan underscores our commitment to providing high-quality parks and recreational opportunities for Kimberley residents," said Nicole Halasz, Manager of Parks and Facilities. “We encourage all community members to review the draft plan and share their valuable feedback before we finalize it later this summer."

To facilitate public engagement, the City will host two open house events on April 16th at Centennial Hall. The first session will run from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, providing attendees with an opportunity to learn more about the Master Plan and offer input. The second session, incorporated into the (Re)Discover Kimberley Community Group Showcase from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, will offer a vibrant atmosphere where residents can explore local programs and activities while providing feedback on the draft plan.

For those unable to attend the events, please view the plan at www.engagekimberley.ca and provide your comments there. This public engagement will remain open until May 3rd, 2024.
