Forest Crowne Water System Shutdown Next Week
Please be advised that the City of Kimberley will be completing important water system improvements in the Forest Crowne area. As a result, there will be a complete water shut down beginning:
Date: Tuesday, July 29 to Wednesday, July 30
Time: Starting July 29 at 7:00 PM
Estimated Duration: Up to 24 hours
What this means for you: During the shutdown, there will be no tap water available for drinking, cooking, or cleaning. Toilets will not flush, and other water-dependent appliances (such as dishwashers and washing machines) will not function. Please plan ahead by storing enough water for your household’s needs, including drinking, hygiene, and sanitation.
Once the water has been restored to your home, you may experience discoloured or turbid water, and possibly air in your water lines. If this occurs, please open one cold water tap, preferably your bathtub or an outside tap, and let it run for approximately 5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
Please also note that a second complete water shutdown is planned for late August. While the exact date and time have not yet been confirmed, we will provide as much notice as possible once details are finalized.

What is the work being done?
This work is part of essential infrastructure maintenance for the Forest Crowne subdivision. It is necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the water system.
When is the shutdown happening and for how long?
The shutdown will begin on Tuesday, July 29 at 7:00 PM and is expected to last for approximately 24 hours.
Will I have any water at all during the shutdown?
No. This is a total water system shutdown, meaning there will be no water available from any taps, and toilets will not refill automatically.
How should I prepare?
Store enough drinking water for at least 24 hours (4L per person per day is recommended). Fill bathtubs or buckets for flushing toilets and basic hygiene. Avoid using appliances that require water, such as dishwashers and washing machines.
How can I flush my toilet during the shutdown?
Before the shutdown, fill your bathtub or large containers with water. To flush your toilet:
• Pour water directly into the toilet bowl to trigger a flush, or
• Fill the toilet tank manually and flush as usual.
What should I do when the water comes back on?
You may notice discoloured or cloudy water and air in the pipes. Run a cold water tap (preferably your bathtub or an outdoor tap) for about 5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
What if there is a fire during the shutdown?
The Kimberley Fire Department is prepared to respond to any emergencies during the water outage.
How can I access water during the shutdown?
Affected residents may access potable water and showers at the Kimberley Aquatic Centre during regular operating hours. Showers will be free with proof of address. Please bring your own containers for water collection.
Will there be another shutdown?
Yes, a second water shutdown is planned for late August. The City will provide advance notice once the date is confirmed.
