City of Kimberley cancels Summer Day Camps during Evacuation Alert
The City of Kimberley has determined it will no longer be offering day camps while the community is under an Evacuation Alert. The final day for day camps at the Kimberley Aquatic Centre will be Friday, July 24, 2026. Staff have contacted parents of campers that have preregistered, and the City is crediting the accounts of all campers registered for July 27-31, 2026.
This difficult decision was made with the safety of campers and their families in mind, in order to ensure that families can evacuate quickly in the event of an evacuation order. The City appreciates the community’s cooperation in helping one another prepare, and staff look forward to welcoming the campers back to the Kimberley Aquatic Centre when the Evacuation Alert is rescinded.

As a follow-up to the previous press release on the fire that occurred at the Kimberley Public Works Yard on Christmas Eve, we would like to provide additional information to the community.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the Kimberley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Public Works Yard. Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire.
The Kimberley Fire Department is currently managing a fire at the City’s Public Works Yard. The situation is under control, and there have been no injuries reported.
Due to unexpected mechanical issues with the collection truck, the Route C garbage pickup scheduled for today, December 18th, will be delayed to tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.
We are currently addressing a water main break in the area surrounding Selkirk Secondary School. The school and homes within the area outlined on the attached map are affected.

Work on the new Swan Ave Playground is beginning this week. Contractors expect to complete work by October 2022.
A water main break has occurred on Wallinger Ave in front of Canada Post and has forced a full road closure. Detours are in place. Work is expected to continue through Thursday, July 7th.
