Ice Plant Replacement Project – 2026/2027 Season Start‑Up Update

Work on the new shared ice plant for the Kimberley Civic Centre and the Kimberley Curling Club will begin in late April after the current system shuts down for the season. This project is an important investment in safety, reliability, and long‑term facility sustainability, replacing equipment that has exceeded its lifespan.
The contractor has provided a commissioning date of early September 2026. Once the system is operational, City crews will require approximately two weeks to build the ice. We now anticipate opening the facilities on September 18, 2026.
We understand this later start will affect several user groups and appreciate the community’s patience as we complete this essential upgrade. Updates will be shared as the project progresses. If you have any questions, please reach out to the City.
