Plan for potential postal service delays

Posted:

Due to the Canada Post strike, some City communications may be affected. Please see below for information about the impacts to different departments.

Utilities Billing: Utility bill mail-outs scheduled for mid-October may be delayed. While we understand this disruption is beyond your control, you are still responsible for paying your bill on time to avoid late penalties.

Please sign up for e-billing, which is a fast, secure, and convenient way to receive your utility bill directly to your email and avoid late fees.

Making Payments: Cheques mailed to the City during the Canada Post strike may not be received before the due date. Utility and other payments can be made in person at City Hall.

Receiving Payments: If you are a vendor with the City of Kimberley and have not been set up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), please call us at 250-427-5311 for more information. Cheques can also be picked up at City Hall. Cheques will not be mailed during the Canada Post strike.

Planning and Building: A postal strike will impact the processing of applications that require notices be mailed to specific properties. Decision timelines for applications involving public notice requirements will experience delays.

Contact City Hall if you have any questions related to these impacts.
