Kimberley Avenue Corridor Improvement Project to Begin

Posted:

The City of Kimberley is advising residents, businesses, and visitors of upcoming traffic disruptions as work begins this week on the Kimberley Avenue Corridor Improvement Project.

This important infrastructure project will improve transportation and utility infrastructure along Kimberley Avenue and will require periodic traffic restrictions and temporary road closures throughout construction. Temporary closures will occur as required to safely complete the work.  Access for local traffic will be maintained wherever practical; however, temporary interruptions should be expected.

A signed detour will be in place along Wallinger, Swan and Norton Avenues, providing reliable access to the ski hill, Townsite and destinations around the construction area. Residents and visitors should plan ahead, follow posted detour and speed signs and allow additional travel time, as this familiar connection will be periodically unavailable during the project.

"We know this area is an important route for residents, businesses, and visitors, and we're committed to maintaining access wherever possible throughout construction," said Rory Greggain, Project Manager. "We appreciate the community's patience as we complete these important infrastructure upgrades and encourage motorists to follow posted detours and allow extra travel time when travelling through the area."

The City will continue to provide updates as the project progresses and encourages the public to follow City communication channels for the latest construction notices and traffic information. Residents can follow along online at www.kimberley.ca/KimberleyAveConstruction.
