New Curbside Recycling Contractor Starting August 31
Starting August 31, 2026, the City of Kimberley will transition to SRP Projects Ltd. as its new contractor for curbside recycling collection.
The City is working closely with SRP Projects to ensure a smooth transition. This includes sharing collection route information, reviewing service requirements, and helping operators become familiar with Kimberley's neighbourhoods and collection routes before service begins.
Residents should continue to follow the existing curbside recycling collection schedule and place their recycling carts out as usual on their scheduled collection day. The contractor change does of affect the collection schedule.
As with any service transition, there may be a brief adjustment period as new operators become familiar with routes. We appreciate residents' patience and understanding during this time. If your recycling collection is missed, or if you have questions about collection service, please contact SRP Projects directly at 250-946-8370 starting August 31.
SRP Projects has experience providing solid waste collection services to municipalities and has recently expanded its operations into British Columbia. The City looks forward to working with SRP Projects to provide reliable and efficient curbside recycling collection for Kimberley residents.

As a follow-up to the previous press release on the fire that occurred at the Kimberley Public Works Yard on Christmas Eve, we would like to provide additional information to the community.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the Kimberley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Public Works Yard. Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire.
The Kimberley Fire Department is currently managing a fire at the City’s Public Works Yard. The situation is under control, and there have been no injuries reported.
Due to unexpected mechanical issues with the collection truck, the Route C garbage pickup scheduled for today, December 18th, will be delayed to tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.
We are currently addressing a water main break in the area surrounding Selkirk Secondary School. The school and homes within the area outlined on the attached map are affected.
