Respectful Conduct Towards City Staff

Posted:

Keeping Our Community Kind ☀️
As the weather warms up, we love seeing our community out and about. Recently, however, we’ve noticed a few rising temperatures in interactions with City staff. Whether you’re visiting City Hall, using City facilities, or passing our crews working hard on our streets, respectful behaviour is expected and required.

Our Zero Tolerance Policy
To keep our workplace safe and welcoming for everyone, the City will not tolerate:

  • Yelling or aggressive language
  • Swearing or personal insults
  • Harassment of any kind

Our employees are here to serve the community, and they deserve to do their work in a respectful environment.

How to Get Your Issue Resolved
We’re here to help. If you have a concern or complaint, these are the best ways to have it addressed:

  1. Log it online: The fastest way to ensure your issue is tracked and sent to the right department is through our online portal: https://bit.ly/opsready-home
  2. Give us a call: Speak with a representative at 250-427-5311. You will be pointed to the right department. Staff will not tolerate bad behaviour on the phone.
  3. Visit City Hall: Stop by during business hours. Staff may ask individuals to leave if their behaviour becomes aggressive or unsafe.
  4. Make a formal complaint: Residents and visitors may not always be happy with a decision or service they received, and have the right to raise a concern with a higher level of authority. Visit our Formal Complaints Page for details on how to elevate complaints.

We’re happy to help find solutions—and we appreciate everyone doing their part to keep interactions respectful. After all, we’re all neighbours. Let’s keep the conversation professional and the heat outside.
