As a follow-up to the previous press release on the fire that occurred at the Kimberley Public Works Yard on Christmas Eve, we would like to provide additional information to the community.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the Kimberley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Public Works Yard. Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire.

The Kimberley Fire Department is currently managing a fire at the City’s Public Works Yard. The situation is under control, and there have been no injuries reported.

Due to unexpected mechanical issues with the collection truck, the Route C garbage pickup scheduled for today, December 18th, will be delayed to tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.

We are currently addressing a water main break in the area surrounding Selkirk Secondary School. The school and homes within the area outlined on the attached map are affected.

After more than three decades of dedicated commitment to the City of Kimberley, Chris Mummery, Senior Manager of Operations, has announced his retirement.

Work on the new Swan Ave Playground is beginning this week. Contractors expect to complete work by October 2022.

A water main break has occurred on Wallinger Ave in front of Canada Post and has forced a full road closure. Detours are in place. Work is expected to continue through Thursday, July 7th.

City Council provided first reading to Bylaw No. 2722 at their June 27th meeting as an initial step to consider amendments to several sections of Zoning Bylaw No. 1850.
