Prescribed Burn Walking Tour a Success!
More than 40 people joined us in the Levirs area for our guided prescribed burn walking tour with Fire Chief Will Booth and Wildland Fire Ecologist Bob Gray. It was great to see such strong interest in learning how we actively manage our forests and reduce wildfire risk in our community.
The tour offered a first-hand look at the Levirs prescribed burn area and helped explain why fire is an important tool for supporting healthier, more resilient ecosystems while helping protect Kimberley from severe wildfires.
Thank you to everyone who came out, asked thoughtful questions, and took the time to learn more about this important work.

As a follow-up to the previous press release on the fire that occurred at the Kimberley Public Works Yard on Christmas Eve, we would like to provide additional information to the community.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the Kimberley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Public Works Yard. Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire.
The Kimberley Fire Department is currently managing a fire at the City’s Public Works Yard. The situation is under control, and there have been no injuries reported.
Due to unexpected mechanical issues with the collection truck, the Route C garbage pickup scheduled for today, December 18th, will be delayed to tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.
We are currently addressing a water main break in the area surrounding Selkirk Secondary School. The school and homes within the area outlined on the attached map are affected.

A water main break has occurred on Wallinger Ave in front of Canada Post and has forced a full road closure. Detours are in place. Work is expected to continue through Thursday, July 7th.
