Remembering the Sullivan Mine Tragedy
This Wednesday, May 20th at 2:00 pm, our community will gather at the Kimberley Platzl gazebo to honour Doug, Bob, Kim, and Shawn—twenty years after the tragic Sullivan Mine incident.
Due to an emergency water main repair at the entrance to the BC Ambulance station, organizers have adjusted the memorial parade route to the Platzl gazebo. The memorial parade will now follow the updated route shown in the map below. They will walk along St. Mary's Ave to Spokane Street in front of City Hall, and then through the Platzl.
Please expect brief traffic impacts in the area between 1:40 and 2:00 pm.
Thank you for your patience as crews complete this urgent repair. We look forward to coming together to remember and honour these four lives.

As a follow-up to the previous press release on the fire that occurred at the Kimberley Public Works Yard on Christmas Eve, we would like to provide additional information to the community.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. today, the Kimberley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Public Works Yard. Fire crews arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire.
The Kimberley Fire Department is currently managing a fire at the City’s Public Works Yard. The situation is under control, and there have been no injuries reported.
Due to unexpected mechanical issues with the collection truck, the Route C garbage pickup scheduled for today, December 18th, will be delayed to tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.
We are currently addressing a water main break in the area surrounding Selkirk Secondary School. The school and homes within the area outlined on the attached map are affected.

A water main break has occurred on Wallinger Ave in front of Canada Post and has forced a full road closure. Detours are in place. Work is expected to continue through Thursday, July 7th.
